So trust me when I tell you, I’ve spotted a Trend…
This trend isn’t just showing up on the shelves in the boutique though, it’s in conversations, in passing comments, even sometimes whispered in the fitting room.
But this is not a Trend I want to promote. In fact it’s quite the opposite.
“So what is this Trend” I hear you ask?
It’s a quiet overwhelm when it comes to getting dressed. The seemingly benign daily
decision of what to wear.
Not because there’s not enough options… but rather because there are too many voices.
Social media “influencers” are incredibly powerful when it comes to telling you what’s “in” what’s “out” what you “should” or “shouldn’t” be wearing what’s “flattering” even what’s “age appropriate” (don’t get me started)… and while some of it can be helpful, too much of a good thing in this instance is simply… exhausting.
Trust me, I see it play out in real time, time and time again.
Women second-guessing themselves before they’ve even stepped into the fitting room. Coming in to try a currently trending style (hello Barrel pants, I’m looking at you) but feeling completely ill at ease with how they look and feel in them.
Since when did getting dressed become so complicated?
When you strip it all back, fashion has always evolved. It always will. What people wore in the early 1900s, the 50s, the 70s… it all reflected the time, the mood, the movement of that moment. Did it suit everyone who lived in those eras? Possibly not. But Personal Style? Now that’s something much more powerful.
A refined Personal Style is not loud. It doesn’t shout for attention. It doesn’t embrace every
TikTok Trend nor does it completely change every season. It evolves over time.
And sometimes… it gets a little lost along the way.
Life shifts. Bodies change. Confidence ebbs and flows. And somewhere in the middle of al that, it’s easy to see the appeal of outsourcing your decisions. Looking outward instead of
inward. Scrolling for reinforcement instead of trusting your inner self.
But I’ve also observed another truth.
When someone puts something on that truly reflects how they either see or want to see themselves… everything changes.
There’s a pause. A smile. A subtle shift in posture.
No trend could ever compete with that.
Having said that… I’m not here to tell you to ignore trends altogether. Fashion trends can be fun and even liberating. A way to express how you see yourself. But it should never override your instinct.
Instead, think of it as a filter. Take what resonates. Leave what doesn’t.
Try something new… but only keep it if it feels right when you catch your reflection.
Because getting dressed shouldn’t feel like a test you have to pass. It should feel innately
natural.
And if it doesn’t right now… that’s OK too.
This is exactly the kind of conversation we’re having more and more in store. Not about “what’s trending”, but about what works for you where you are at now. Your shape, your lifestyle, your preferences… your life as it is right now.
It’s also the reason our Personal Styling Sessions are so popular in store. Nothing too formal. Never intimidating.
Just one on one time with me, to work through where you see yourself now or where you want to be… to try pieces you might not normally reach for, to refine what you already have, and to reconnect with a sense of ease when you get dressed and ultimately to find the FUN in fashion again.
Because sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective… and someone you trust standing
beside you saying, “Try this, what’s the worst that can happen?!”.
If you’ve been feeling that quiet overwhelm lately… that’s exactly what we are here for!
